This AN/PRS-3 was developed in 1950's. The Korean War saw both sides setting up extensive mine fields to deter either side from gaining to ground. Specially around the 38th parallel also known as the DMZ line, where a cease fire holds to this day. Despite the fighting stopping in 1953, neither side has yet to sign a formal peace treaty.
