Serial Number: 24068. Good condition. Bore is semi bright. This Arisaka has been sporterized, original stock has been replaced, original front & rear sight have been removed. Stock has some handling wear. Metal has some light finish wear, barrel has a discolored spot from where the original rear sight was. "If" it is the original bolt handle, then it has been reshaped.
This Sporterized rifle is built upon a Arisaka Type 38 action, that would have been manufactured sometime between 1905-1942. Featuring a 23" barrel, drilled & tapped receiver, internal magazine well, bladed front sight and rear Williams adjustable peep sight, manual safety, and has a smooth walnut stock with a right hand palm swell & White Line recoil pad.
During the post war disarmament of the Japanese Empire, it was common practice for Arisaka rifles with their Mum's to be ground off being handed to G.I. as war trophies to bring back home.
